Cairo, Al-Bawaba - The well-known Egyptian actress 'Zubaida Tharwat' died on Tuesday at age of 76 after a long struggle with cancer and ageing-associated diseases.
During her career, she was given many nicknames such as 'The Pussy-cat Face of Arab Cinema', 'Magic Eyes' and 'The Queen of Romance'. She retired from acting in the late 1980s. The American actress Jennifer Lawrence has been noted for her resemblance to Tharwat. She married five times and has four daughters with her second husband, Syrian producer 'Sobhy Farahat'. Tharwat graduated in Law School and worked in one of the most prominent law firms in Egypt back in 1950-60s. Later on, she studied the Islamic Law for a while.She left for the United States of America to take care of one of her daughters, who used to live there, three years ago.
Zubaida Tharwat was born in Alexandria in 1940. She broke into
the art scene after appearing on the cover of “Al Geel” (The Generation)
magazine, after winning in a contest made by them. She started acting
in 1956 in the film “Delila” while studying law and working as an intern
to fulfil her grandfather's wish, who rejected her acting aspirations.
Shortly afterwards she stopped working in law and became dedicated to
