Saudi Prince, member of Sudairi Seven, dies at 86

Riyadh – Saudi Arabia’s Royal Court announced on Thursday that  Prince Abdul Rahman Bin Abdulaziz, Saudi Arabia's former deputy minister of defense and aviation passed away at 86.

The funeral prayer was performed following Friday’s evening prayers at the Grand mosque in Makkah.
The deceased was the third eldest brother among the Sudairi Seven – the seven sons of Ibn Saud delivered by his favoured wife Hassa bint Ahmed Al Sudairi.

Abdul-Rahman, born in 1931, received a Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of California and graduated from the military academy in Saint Diego. Abdul Rahman also received a BA in Economics from the University of California.

Abdul Rahman proposed that the replacement of the word “fire” with the phase “Allah is Great” when the soldiers launch artillery shelling.  Abdul Rahman also said he is “proud of being part of the Saudi people.”
He took part in the political life in 1983, when King Fahd named him deputy minister of defense and aviation as he remained in this position until 2011.
