Cairo – An Egyptian parliamentarian said on Thursday that the Qatari regime is not loyal to Arabs and is willing to form a coalition, even with “the devil”, to implement its agendas and plots in cooperation with Turkey and Iran.
MP Abdel Aziz Al-Qassas, member of the House of Representatives’ defense and national security committee, made his remarks after the Qatari regime sought the help of forces from Turkey and Iranian Revolutionary Guards. He explained that such a step proves that the Qatari regime betrays Arabs and defies Gulf countries.
Al-Qassas told Al-Youm Al-Sabe’a daily that Qatar has played a significant role in supporting terrorist organizations and the foundation of the Islamic State terror organization (ISIS) that poses threats to the Arab region and world. He pointed out that the recent Riyadh Summit, held last May in the presence of Arab leaders and US President Donald Trump, unveiled Qatar’s plots in the region and Doha’s support for terrorist organizations.
Al-Qassas added that pressure put on Doha by the boycotting Arab countries will prompt Qatari people to stage a revolution against Qatari Emir Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani.
On June 5, the United Arab Emirates, Saudi Arabia, Bahrain and Egypt broke diplomatic ties with Qatar and cut off air, sea and land access to the country over Doha’s support for terrorist groups.
On June 22, users of social media networks circulated a copy of a 13-point ultimatum issued by Gulf countries to reach a solution for the Qatari crisis. These demands included that Doha should close the broadcast of Qatar-run al-Jazeera satellite channel, scale back cooperation with Iran, remove Turkish troops from Qatar’s soil and end contact with the Muslim Brotherhood group. Qatar was given 10 days to comply with these demands.
On June 23, the United Arab Emirates accused Qatar of leaking the 13 demands to abort the mediation of Kuwait, which attempts to solve this crisis.
