Cairo - Egypt’s Interior Ministry said in a statement issued on
Saturday that the National Security department received information about the intention
of a Muslim Brotherhood attempt to smuggle in devices from “Mekameleen”, a satellite channel
loyal to the group that broadcasts from Turkey to Egypt.
According to the statement, the security authorities
intensified their measures in the airports, as they inspected the elements
coming from Turkey and electronic devices with them. Security forces arrested a
defendant coming from Istanbul in possession of a large quantity of electronic
devices and call forwarding devices.
The defendant said, during the investigations conducted with
him, that he smuggled the devices upon an agreement with one of the workers in
the channel called Moaz Sh. a loyalist to the Muslim Brotherhood, living in Kuwait.
