Egypt’s digital multimedia era to start within 2 years, expert predicts

Cairo - Chairman of Al-Nahar TV network expects that the post-TV era of digital multimedia will begin within two years in Egypt.

In an interview with Masrawy, Amr Koura explained that the era of TV will not continue for more than another two years, noting that the owners of satellite channels should pay more attention to their digital channels. 

He pointed out the producers of drama suffer losses of some LE1 billion in the holy fasting month of Ramadan due to low yields and returns on commercials. He criticized the procrastination of channels to pay up their dues, which leads to the aggravation of debts.

Koura stressed that social media and Ipsos reports for viewing rates have become the main drive for commercial market because the advertisers’ plans are based on them, thus the commercial strategies were adjusted more than one time during Ramadan.

Social media networks and digital multimedia are increasingly growing in Egypt, especially during the past years.
