Cairo - Nobel laureate Egyptian diplomat Mohamed Mustafa ElBaradei was born in 1942 in Kafr El-Zayat in the Egyptian governorate of Gharbia.

He was the Director General of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) and won Nobel Peace Prize in 2005.

After the June 30 Revolution, he resigned from his position as vice president of Adly Mansour after the Egyptian state decided to disperse the sit-ins of the supporters of the outlawed Muslim Brotherhood group in the main squares of Cairo and Giza.

The resignation of ElBaradei at that point can only be interpreted as an attempt to abdicate his responsibility because he would have played an important role to clarify that Egypt had been fighting terrorism that threatens its national security.

Key politicians strongly criticized ElBaradei for tendering his resignation. They accused ElBaradei of high treason because he conveyed a wrong message to the West that the Egyptian authorities attacked the Brotherhood supporters who staged the sit-ins. ElBaradei’s resignation at that point proved that he was a part of a Western-American plot that aims to contribute to the collapse and fall of the Egyptian state.
That stance adopted by ElBaradei is similar to the enemy’s, because he opted to protect his reputation rather than defend his homeland.

Several lawsuits has been recently filed against ElBaradei to retrieve the Order of the Nile, Egypt's highest state honor, from him on the grounds that he has not offered any great services to Egypt.
The Order of the Nile is awarded by Egypt for exceptional services to the nation.
The lawsuits are also based on the involvement of ElBaradei in crimes against Egypt as evidenced by leaks recently revealed by a satellite channel.

ElBaradei lived between Egypt and several European capitals before returning home a few months before the toppling of long-time president Hosni Mubarak.
In February 2010, he co-founded the National Association for Change, a group of opposition powers calling for political and democratic reforms in Egypt.

During the rule of MB-linked ousted president Mohamed Morsi, ElBaradei co-founded the National Front for Salvation, which consisted of more than 35 groups opposed to the regime of the Islamist president.
Following the ouster of Morsi in July 2013, ElBaradei served as interim Vice President of Egypt, but he resigned after the security forces dispersed the protest camps set up by Morsi supporters in August 2013.
