Calls for constitutional amendments harm Egypt’s interests: MP

Cairo - Head of Egypt’s parliamentary Committee on Defense and National Security Kamal Amer expressed his resentment over the calls for amending Egypt’s constitution during the current critical period. Amer said that such proposals to amend the Egyptian constitution harm Egypt’s image before the world.

Amer described such proposals to amend the constitution as irresponsible, saying that the constitution should be implement for at least four years before its amendment.

Amer stressed that the constitutional amendments will not serve Egypt’s President Abdel-Fattah Al-Sisi, while they harm the interests of the country, as they open the door for those people who target the country’s security and stability to launch their calls aiming to raise the chaos in the country.

He called the Egyptian people and parliamentarians for supporting President Sisi through participating in his campaign to achieve development, saying that members of his committee will send a message to express their support for President Sisi to take a second presidential term.
