Washington - On March 3, US Defense Secretary General James Mattis nominated former Ambassador Anne Patterson to the top civilian position at the Pentagon, as reported by the Washington Post.
The nominee for undersecretary of defense for policy served as the United States ambassador to Egypt at the time of the Muslim Brotherhood's rise to power. According to the Washington Free Beacon, Patterson advocated for negotiating with the terror group.
Mattis seemed to have felt the pressure and withdrew Patterson as his nominee less than two weeks after he announced her nomination, Independent Journal Review reported.
