Cairo - Abdul Hafiz Ghoga, Vice Chairman of the Libyan Transitional Council and legal expert, called for submitting several Qatari officials before the International Criminal Court accusing them of funding terrorism in Libya since the start of the uprising of February 17 till this day.
During a phone call with Al Bawaba News, Ghoga praised the initiative of Abdel Rehim Ali, the Egyptian member of parliament and founder of Al Bawaba who called for collecting evidence that incriminates Qatar and its tampering with the security of the Arab region. Ghoga added, “The Qatari intervention in Libya was clear since the first day of the February revolution by providing financial support and arms to the emirs of extremist groups in Libya. The Qatari chief of staff bypassed the Libyan chief of staff at the time, Abdel Fattah Al Obeidi, and I am almost certain that Qatar instigated his killing because it did not want a military establishment in Libya after the end of the revolution.”
According to Sky News Channel, the amount of funding that has come from Doha to these terrorist groups in Libya since 2011 is about 750 million Euros.
Ghoga added, "The Qatari interference in Libyan affairs and Doha’s relationship with leaders of extremist groups is obvious and clear. Legal action must be taken against its policies to deter it from destroying the region.”
Moreover, Ghoga stated that the gathering of evidence on the intervention of the Qatari Chief of Staff, the Qatari military elements and their connection to the terrorist groups in Libya as well as the Libyan soldiers targeted by Doha in Libya starting from Abdel Fattah Younis onward, will enable us to present the case of the Emir of Qatar, his military and political apparatus before the International Criminal Court.
A few days earlier, Khalifa Haftar, Chief of the Libyan National Army indirectly accused Qatar and other countries which he did not name of supporting terrorist groups in his country.
