Cairo – The Egyptian Ministry of Foreign Affairs strongly condemned the London Bridge and Borough Market terrorist attacks, which were carried out late Saturday night and left at least six people dead and over 48 injured.
The ministry issued a statement on Sunday and expressed Egypt’s condolences to the government and friendly people of the United Kingdom.
The note stressed that such incidents represent “a new episode in the series of terrorist attacks” committed recently in many cities worldwide.

“This attests that all nations and peoples are  targets of abhorrent terrorism,” according to the statement posted on the ministry’s official page on Facebook.
Egypt called on all countries to “stand together” against terrorism and supporters of terrorist organizations.

What has been confirmed to be multiple incidents hit London late Saturday night. Police are treating the incidents as possible terrorist attacks, saying it is a ‘serious incident’.  Armed police are positioned at the scene on London Bridge.
At 10:08 pm London time, police were sent to London Bridge after reports of a van that had swayed and veered, at high speed, plowing into pedestrians on the bridge. The London Bridge area is a touristic spot, with many people out at clubs and bars and restaurants on Saturday nights.
The second incident took place at Borough Market, not far from London Bridge. Witnesses say a man with a ‘huge knife’ attacked people at the market.
Witnesses scrambled under tables hiding from the man with the knife. The scene has been described as too chaotic to know if there were more than one attacker, or if any attackers have escaped.
According to data released on Sunday by BBC, the incidents claimed the lives of six people and at least 48 were injured.
