Mostafa Lotfy tweeted: “The Egyptian army is one of the best
armies in the world. Its troops are among the most well-trained and skilled in
the world. Had an adversity befallen us, all 90 million Egyptians would be
joining it immediately. Long Live Egypt!”
Sherine Mahmoud also tweeted, addressing the Emir of Qatar Sheikh
Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani: “Your days are numbered, you and all your ruling
royal family. You as well as the Brotherhood all will be crushed by the iron
fist of the great Egyptian army, [which stands as] Egypt’s armor and sword.”
There is ample evidence proving that Qatar has expended a
lot of effort and money in support of the Brotherhood operations against Egypt.
Although several other players are involved in creating chaos the Mid East region, and
their intelligence and foreign agendas have been implicated in what is
happening, most notably of which are Iran, Qatar, and Turkey, Qatar’s role in destabilizing the
region and implementing US instructions, stands out from all the others.
The Emir of Qatar, Bin Khalifa has also made Qatar a safe haven
for several Brotherhood hardliners and preachers, showering them with generous
funding through newly-minted credit cards. His main goal is for those
preachers to reach out to the 1.5 billion Muslims worldwide, seeing that all resources provided by Qatar are at their disposal, such as the media platform of the Al-Jazeera.
However, one might ask what is the price for that? The price is “silence.” While these preachers are free to talk about the situation in the Middle East in general, particularly provoking popular outrage in Egypt and Libya, they have a role to play which is to keep the revolutionary tide outside the borders of Qatar. If they do otherwise, the media platform would stop, and financial support would be cut off immediately. In other words, either toe the line, or suffer the consequences.
Qatar’s
relationship with the rising Islamist movements in general, and with Egypt’s Brotherhood in particular, before and after the Arab Spring, has always
been surrounded with obscurity and confusion.
This essentially raises legitimate concerns about the nature,
level and cost of this relationship in light of fears and speculations about a
Qatari quest for control over Egypt’s resources and economy. Therefore, many
pundits have been bearing the burden of exposing Qatari ambitions
and foiling its plans against the Egyptian state and the region at large.
