Cairo - Islam is the religion of mercy, while Christianity is the religion of love and they both cooperate together to build a world full of tolerance, peace and dialogue, Al Azhar Grand Imam Dr Ahmed El-Tayeb, said.
What is happening nowadays is a terrorism that aims to kill Muslims, the same as it does Christians, he added.
El- Tayeb's remarks were made on the sidelines of his meeting, on Wednesday, with representatives of the eastern churches in Australia and New Zealand, currently visiting Cairo.
The Grand Imam expressed thanks to the delegation members for their visit that was meant to extend condolences over the Egyptian victims who lost their lives in the Minya terrorist attack of last week on May 26, 2017.
