Cairo - Egyptian President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi held on Thursday, June 8, a meeting with heads of Egypt’s national media bodies.
Following the meeting, Head of Egypt's National Media Organization Hussein Zein said the Egyptian state has taken serious steps to upgrade the Egyptian Radio and Television Union (ERTU), aka Maspero.
Zein extended thanks to the president for his unstoppable support of Egypt's national media bodies, which are mainly tasked with conveying facts to Egyptians without fabrication.
The president ordered media outlets to work on promoting values of citizenship, tolerance and acceptance of the other in Egypt, Zein said, adding that the national media bodies play a vital role in maintaining Egypt’s national security.
Earlier in April, President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi issued a decree defining the composition of three new media bodies. The three bodies are the Higher Council for Media Regulation, the National Press Organization, and the National Media Organization.
