The Egyptian government keeps its commitment towards women, as it took a number of measures to achieve gender equality and to
support the role of woman on social, economic and political levels through
adopting policies, programs and legislations with specific goals.
President El Sisi, when he declared
2017 as the year of the Egyptian woman, emphasized the central role performed
by Egyptian women to draw the future of the country. He stressed the need
for taking serious measures to protect the woman’s constitutional rights to
perform her role to push forward the country.
The United Nations praised Egypt’s Woman Strategy 2030
adopted by the National Council of Woman, describing it as a leading strategy
to achieve women's empowerment. The International organization expressed its
appreciation to the presidential instructions to turn the strategy into a
reference so as to direct the policies aiming to achieve sustainable development.
On his hand, United Nations Resident Coordinator in Egypt,
Richard Decetus said that the United Nations stresses its support for the steps
taken by Egypt’s government and its partners to achieve development and to
achieve gender equality.
