El-Sisi urges more international efforts to face funders of terrorism

Cairo- Egypt's President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi on Monday June 12, 2017 called for intensifying international efforts in face of countries that fund and support terrorism and provide the political and ideological cover for it.

It is necessary to send a decisive message to those countries if the international community wants to eliminate terrorism, El-Sisi said during his meeting with German Chancellor Angela Merkel in Berlin.

The German chancellor lauded the level of cooperation between Egypt and Germany and expressed her happiness over her visit of Egypt in March, presidential spokesperson Alaa Yousef said.

Merkel stressed her country’s support for the current economic reform measures adopted by Egypt, the spokesperson added.

German companies are keen on increasing their activities and boosting the existing investments in Egypt, Merkel said.

She praised Egypt’s efforts to counter terrorism and solve the current crises in the region.

She added that Germany was ready to cooperate with Egypt in the field of countering terrorism and illegal immigration, the spokesperson said.

President El-Sisi, for his part, praised Germany’s role in the presidency of the G20 and welcomed its initiative to foster partnership with Africa and help it push forward the development efforts.
