Eid Al-Fitr (festival of breaking of the fast) is an
important religious holiday celebrated by Muslims worldwide to mark the end
of the holy fasting month of Ramadan. The religious feast comes on the first
day of the month of Shawwal, when Muslims stop fasting and can eat and drink
during the daytime.
The ecclesiastical delegation met with Al-Tayeb at the headquarters of Al-Azhar Sheikhdom in Cairo. The delegation expressed its appreciation to the moderate vision adopted by the grand imam for the relation between Muslim and non-Muslims during the celebration of the Movement for Religious Reform in Europe in Berlin.
On his hand, Al-Tayeb appreciated the visit, saying that such visits provide clear evidence that Egyptian people live together in peace and love and refute claims aiming to undermine Egypt's unity.
