Cairo- Egypt’s Member of Parliament Dr. Abdel Rahim Ali has called for expelling Qatar from the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) over links to terrorist groups in Libya.
In a phone call with Oloum Al-Dar TV channel of Abu Dhabi on Saturday, June 3, Ali said many Qatari intelligence officers were found to have entered the Libyan city of Sirte along with Abdelhakim Belhadj, the commander of the Libyan Islamic Fighting Group.
"A file is currently being prepared on the crimes committed by Qatar in Egypt’s neighboring countries to be sent to the International Criminal Court,” he said.
The UAE, Saudi Arabia, Bahrain and Egypt have broken diplomatic ties with Qatar and cut off air, sea and land access to the country over Doha’s support for terrorist groups aiming to destabilize the region.
Etihad Airways and Emirates said they would suspend all flights to and from Qatar starting on Tuesday, June 6. The UAE statement also said its airspace and territorial waters would be closed for Qatari vessels and aircraft.
