Nouakchott – Assistant secretary-general of Mauritanian government accused Qatar of funding the Muslim Brotherhood (MB) of Mauritania to destabilize his country and lead revolution, as was the case in Tunisia, Egypt and Libya in 2011.
In televised statements, Muhammad Isaac Al-Konti said the ties with Qatar should have been severed when Mauritania had cut relations with Israel. He explained that both Tel Aviv and Doha are mutually implementing obvious devastating plots that target Arab national security through spreading divisions and fomenting seditions.
Al-Konti convicted the MB-linked National Rally for Reform and Development (Tewassoul) party of acting against the interests of Mauritanian state, citing the statement of the party’s leader Jemil Mansour, who said the Mauritanian fighters in Libya are fighting in favor of late Libyan president Muammar Gaddafi.
Al-Konti also accused MB spiritual leader Mohammed Hassan Ad Dadou of instigating youth to fight in Syria, Libya, Yemen and Egypt.
On June 5, Egypt, Saudi Arabia, Bahrain and the United Arab Emirates have severed ties with Qatar over accusations of supporting and funding terrorism.
